Assessment of non-chemical weed control solutions in Oper8 project

Description

This document summarises the Year 1 assessment phase of solutions. National workshops across seven countries and a European-level workshop engaged farmers, researchers, and industry experts to assess these solutions using criteria related to efficacy, socio-economic feasibility, and environmental impacts. The European workshop, structured around arable crops, field vegetables, and perennial crops/vineyards, enabled deeper cross-country collaboration and refinement of evaluation criteria. The top solutions selected in each country underwent cost-benefit analysis to determine their economic, environmental, and social viability. These results guide the next project steps, including a second validation round and the creation of technical audio-visual materials to support wider dissemination and adoption of sustainable weed control practices across Europe.
