Description

MarinePlan Deliverable 5.2 (D5.2) synthesises the development of scenarios of conservation planning
within eight Planning Sites (PS) ranging from sub-national to transboundary scales that are aligned to
both the EU European Biodiversity Strategy target of 30 % protection of EU Seas with 10 % under strict
protection by 2030 and an Ecosystem-Based Marine Spatial Planning (EB-MSP) process. The
deliverable provides an overview of realistic and hypothetical planning scenarios and identifies
common knowledge gaps and challenges in respective EB-MSP processes. It also provides
recommendations and key action points to support regional, national and local effective EB-MSP
implementation with a particular focus on achieving the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 targets.
