Contenidos 

La presente guía, "Radiación gamma. Usos y protección ciudadana. Propuesta formativa en el marco del proyecto de ciencia ciudadana Openred", busca proporcionar a cualquier persona interesada –estudiantes y profesorado de Bachillerato o Formación Profesional, integrantes de asociaciones diversas, personas curiosas de cualquier edad– los conocimientos esenciales sobre la radiación ionizante y la protección radiológica. Su objetivo es contribuir a la formación de una ciudadanía informada, capaz de entender qué es la radiación, dónde se encuentra, cómo se mide y cómo gestionarla de manera crítica y responsable.

Este material forma parte del proyecto Openred, una iniciativa coordinada por el Consejo de Seguridad Nuclear (CSN) y la Fundación Ibercivis, en colaboración con la Universidad de Zaragoza, la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-BarcelonaTech (UPC), la Universidad de Cantabria (UC) y el Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas (Ciemat). El objetivo de Openred es potenciar la cultura ciudadana sobre la radiación y promover la creación de una red de medición de radiación gamma ambiental distribuida por todo el territorio, mediante la participación ciudadana. Para lograrlo, es fundamental que todos tengamos conocimientos claros y rigurosos sobre este tema y a este objetivo se orienta esta guía.

Además de la comunidad educativa, también múltiples asociaciones, museos, centros juveniles, ferias de ciencia o entidades locales pueden utilizar este material para promover actividades divulgativas y talleres científicos. Con los conocimientos adquiridos, cualquier persona puede realizar acciones hacia una mayor implicación social: comprender mejor la información científica, tomar decisiones fundamentadas en cuestiones de seguridad y salud, o incluso participar en iniciativas de ciencia ciudadana.

En definitiva, esta guía invita a descubrir, reflexionar y actuar. Conocer la radiación es también aprender a protegernos, a cuidar del medio ambiente y a involucrarnos en aquello que es de interés común. La educación es una herramienta de fortalecimiento y cohesión social, y este documento quiere contribuir a que esa educación llegue a todas las personas, reforzando las capacidades de participación activa en la construcción de una sociedad más informada, segura y comprometida.

This guide, ‘Radiación gamma. Usos y protección ciudadana. Propuesta formativa en el marco del proyecto de ciencia ciudadana Openred', aims to provide anyone interested – upper secondary school and vocational training students and teachers, members of various associations, curious people of any age – with essential knowledge about ionising radiation and radiation protection. It aims to contribute to the education of an informed citizenry, capable of understanding what radiation is, where it is found, how it is measured, and how to manage it critically and responsibly.

This material is part of the Openred project, an initiative coordinated by the Consejo de Seguridad Nuclear (CSN) and the Fundación Ibercivis, in collaboration with the Universidad de Zaragoza, the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña-BarcelonaTech (UPC), the Universidad de Cantabria (UC), and the Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas (Ciemat). Openred aims to raise public awareness of radiation and promote the creation of a network for measuring environmental gamma radiation distributed throughout the territory, through citizen participation.
