Description

This document presents the final version of the GoNaturePositive! Concept Note on ‘Framing a NaturePositive Economy’. GoNaturePositive! is an EU-funded research and innovation project aimed at accelerating transformative action towards a nature-positive economy. The purpose of this concept note is to outline the central concept of Nature-Positive Economy, to enable discussion of the framing and building blocks for transitioning to a NaturePositive Economy.

This concept note is based on a year-long stakeholder consultation and literature review of policy documents and academic literature. A draft version was circulated for for feedback from October - December 2024, which received over 750 responses from stakeholders across 50 countries. The consultation shaped this final version of the concept note, where the main themes raised in the stakeholder feedback are addressed in boxes throughout the concept note.

The intended audience is actors who have high impacts and dependencies on nature: such as businesses including small and medium sized-enterprises and nature-based enterprises; actors who shape the economy such as policymakers and governments, finance and investors, standards bodies; and actors who encourage accountability such as non-governmental organisations, researchers, education providers, citizens, and civil society groups.
