NEB Impact Model Dominoes Game: Co-Benefits, Conflicts & Conversations
Description
The NEB Impact Model Dominoes Game is a simplified, hands-on tool to explore the New European Bauhaus (NEB) values of sustainability, beauty, and inclusivity, aligned with the goals of the European Green Deal. Based on the NEB Impact Model, a whole-systems approach for mapping and enhancing transformation processes, this game brings together diverse topics such as environmental quality, social and cultural aspects, economic performance, and governance. Tested in workshops across 12 European cities, this gamified tool helps participants engage with complex ideas through collaboration, storytelling, and play.
Technical info
The NEB Impact Model Dominoes Game package includes one deck of illustrated domino cards representing diverse topics from the NEB Impact Model, with elaborated descriptions on the back; an instruction booklet detailing gameplay (who can play, setup, workshop outline, and clear steps); and a box containing information about the game’s story, gameplay modes, funding, designer/developer and contributors, as well as Creative Commons licensing for use terms.
The tool invites players to explore and discuss co-benefits and potential conflicts in transformation projects through a gamified approach. It is designed to turn insights into actionable agendas, encourage constructive dialogue, and foster inclusive, informed decision-making toward climate neutrality and improved urban quality.
There are no winners or losers, only meaningful contributions to the conversation. Anyone interested in (re)shaping their neighbourhood, town, or city can play the game and participate in workshops built around this tool. These workshops can engage participants from NGOs, municipalities, developers, academia, businesses, property owners, youth groups, residents, and other interested stakeholders.
