Description

This documents result from a workshop that brought together stakeholders from the national aquaculture sector, including those involved in the valua chain, policy makers and academia (equally represented). Due to Zenodo limitations, the complete author list is only available on the document itself.

The discussion focused on identifying the main threats and challenges, strengths and opportunities, and the needs for research and development (R&D) and regulation.
The objective of this initiative was to build a comprehensive and realistic overview, mapping gaps and priorities that will enable strengthening the sector and making it more sustainable, resilient, and competitive.
The document is structured in four areas — threats/challenges, strengths/opportunities, R&D needs, and regulatory needs — reflecting the ideas and contributions shared during the session and serving as a basis for future strategies in the development of national aquaculture.
We thank all participants (listed as authors) who shared their perspectives, knowledge, and experience, essential for the quality and depth of this collective reflection
