Description

Attached are templates for qualitative data collection for The Ideation Workshop (WS2) conducted as part of the co-creation process to design mosquito control interventions for hospital settings in Zanzibar.

Description of workshop activities:

Template 1
Participants silently review areas where staff and patients have encountered mosquitoes based on interview data, identified by photos on the templates. They mark areas they agreed with a tick and added new locations on a blank page or drone photo. (CC Method: Brainstorming).

Template 2
In groups, participants envisioned alternative layouts, activities, and designs for waiting spaces that would benefit hospital users and help alleviate overcrowding. Groups write their ideas on the template. Each group pick a favorite idea and present it to the other groups. (CC Method: What-if brainstorming).

Template 3
Groups are given intervention cards that could be applied to the hospital environment. Participants collect pros/cons and ideas on how these interventions could be adapted to the hospital environment, answering the questions on the template. Then groups swap interventions and add their perspectives to the templates. The templates were then pinned to the wall for collective assessment and voting on preferred interventions. (CC Method: World Café & Dot Voting/Silent Voting)

Intervention cards are available to download and print here: 10.5281/zenodo.17225531

Template 4
Participants are shown three different queue systems to notify patients to return to reception if spread across different areas of the hospital. Groups brainstorm users, challenges, benefits, using the templates and vote for their preferred system. There are templates for staff perspectives and patient perspectives (CC Method: Prototype, brainstorming & dot voting).

Templates are in English and Swahili languages and designed to be printed in A3 and stuck together to form larger template posters.
