Futuristic Traces in Quranic Verses

There are verses in the Quran that may be considered as futuristic, in the sense that their contents could be reflecting scientific and technical information of the future. Possible Quranic references to the matters such as, homogeneity principles, relativity of time, dark energy and dark matter, and some other relevant subjects will be discussed in this article. Some of these futuristic verses even seem to contain predictions about the cosmic evolution and fate of the universe. In particular, contrary to the present leanings of the astrophysicists towards an ever-expanding universe, Quran seems to predict a closed universe. This projected fate for the universe appears even more interesting in view of the very recent observations of a weakening dark energy which makes the big-crunch a more likely scenario. Quran also appears to forecast birth of a new universe, following demise of the current one, in which the promised Resurrection will arise. Upcoming signs of the Resurrection Day, as pictured by the Quran, also seem to match scientifically predicted events in the course of cosmic evolution.
