Description

This archive contains the dataset for the publication "A Statistical Survey of F2 Layer Peak Properties in the Polar Cap Ionosphere Observed by RISR-N." This archive will provide a general guide to run the code and reproduce 1. The Figures from this associated publication, 2. The processed RISR-N files with our fitting algorithm applied, and 3. The subgroups of lifted, dense, and both events from our processed RISR-N files. 

Table of Contents:

1. Fitted_ISR_Data.zip
    - All console output from processing scripts 
    - Each RISR-N experiments fitted counterpart

2. Ionosphere_Models.zip
    - Proxy-AE (Directory) : Interpolated AE measurements from ELFIN database beyond 2020
    - All console output from processing scripts
    - All geophysical indicies from NASA OMNI database interpolated to line up with RISR-N time steps in models-*.h5
    - All empirical model estimates from IRI and E-CHAIM aligned with RISR-N time steps in models-*.h5 file. 

3. Proxy_AE.zip
    - Proxy AE measurements in .csv form from Elfin database.
    
4. FittingScript.py : 
    - Python script that fits each time step of each RISR-N experiment.
    
5. FittingShellScript.sh : 
    - Shell Script that batches all RISR-N experiments by year to speed up computation.
    
6. ModelScript.py : 
    - Python script that gathers NASA OMNI geophysical conditions and empirical model outputs.
    
7. ModelShellScript.sh : 
    - Shell script that batches the ModelScript.py script.
    
8. AE_Interpolating.ipynb  
    - The notebook that interpolates and creates the Proxy\_AE directory in the Ionosphere\_Model.

9. DataCoverageFigures.ipynb
    - Creates the DataCoverage figure.

10. Lifting_Detection_Code.ipynb
    - The notebook that steps through all of the processed RISR-N experiments and applies detection code.
    - This creates the Both/Dense/Lifted\_Events.h5 files.

11. Making_Figures_20250716.ipynb
    - Makes all of the figures for the paper from the Lifted/Dense/Both\_Events.h5 files.

12. io_utils3.py
    - Same as the io\_utils3.py as the directory above.

13. work_utls.py
    - A post-processing script that opens the HDF5 to unwrap the processed files and model files into a dictionary to produce the figures.
14. utilities.py : 
    - Python script that includes the timeslice class structure.

15. Lifted_events.h5 : 
    - HDF5 file of all identified lifted events.  
    
16. Dense_Events.h5 : 
    - HDF5 file of all identified dense events.  
    
17. Both_Events.h5 : 
    - HDF5 file of all identified both events.
