Description
This catalogue contains the merger classifications of galaxies from the Euclid Q1 data release, as presented in Euclid Collaboration, La Marca et al. (2025). For each source, we provide its Euclid identifier, celestial coordinates, and the output of a convolutional neural network (CNN) trained to distinguish mergers from non-mergers.
The catalogue includes five columns:
-
object_id
: unique Euclid source identifier -
right_ascension
,declination
: source coordinates from the MER catalogue -
CNN_pred
: predicted merger probability (0–1) -
CNN_classification
: final classification (0 = non-merger, 1 = merger, -99 = unclassified)
The sample consists of galaxies in the redshift range 0.5 ≤ z < 2.0 with stellar masses log(M⋆/M☉) > 9.8. Point sources, faint sources, and artefacts were excluded following the procedure described in Section 2.1 of the paper.
The catalogue is provided in CSV and FITS formats. It is intended for studies of galaxy evolution, merger rates, and the connection between mergers and AGN. Users should note that the CNN classifier is probabilistic and not perfect; completeness and purity depend on redshift, stellar mass, and the adopted probability threshold.
