Faidherbia albida creates fertility islands and boosts yields
Authors/Creators
Description
This poster, developed as a collaboration of scientists and farmers, presents research findings on how *Faidherbia albida* trees create 'fertility islands' that enhance soil fertility and increase crop yields under their canopy. It illustrates how these trees improve nutrient cycling, soil organic matter, and moisture retention, leading to higher productivity compared to open fields. Insights from modeling are also included, showing the potential impact on yields if tree density were increased across farmland. The poster is intended to spark discussions with farmers on the potential of *Faidherbia* for building more resilient and productive farming systems, and was refined through an interactive process to combine scientific evidence with local perspectives.
