允恭地震及び南海トラフ連動地震に関する一考察

Abstract(要旨)

本稿では『日本書紀』允恭紀に記載された允恭5年(443年頃と推定される)の地震について検討を行った。この記録は日本有史における最古の地震記事とされ、春秋二倍暦の補正を加えることで、東北地方太平洋岸における430年頃の津波痕跡と時期的に対応する可能性が示唆される。さらに、南海トラフ巨大地震の歴史記録(仁和地震、明応地震)との比較から、三陸沖の地震と南海トラフ地震の間に強い連動関係が存在した可能性を指摘した。

加えて、昭和期の地震活動(昭和三陸地震・昭和東南海地震・昭和南海地震・福井地震など)や2011年東北地方太平洋沖地震以降の事例を参照し、歪みの解放が駿河トラフから日本海側へシフトしている可能性を仮説的に提示した。この場合、従来の南海トラフ地震対策に加え、日本海側北陸地域における災害対応を検討する必要がある。

本稿の議論は観測記録および歴史資料に基づく推測であり、将来の地震発生を確定的に予測するものではない。しかし、地震史と地震学の知見を接続する試みとして、災害リスク認識の一助となることを目的とする。

なお、本論は日本の地震に関する地域的なテーマを主題としているため、日本語版のみを公開する。

Abstract

This paper examines the earthquake recorded in the Nihon Shoki during the fifth year of Emperor Ingyō (estimated to be around 443 CE). This record is regarded as the earliest historical earthquake account in Japan. By applying corrections based on the Spring–Autumn double-year calendar system, the event appears to correspond chronologically to tsunami deposits dated to around 430 CE along the Pacific coast of the Tōhoku region. Furthermore, by comparing this description with historical records of great Nankai Trough earthquakes (such as the Ninna Earthquake of 887 and the Meiō Earthquake of 1498), it is suggested that there may have been a strong linkage between earthquakes off Sanriku and those along the Nankai Trough.

In addition, seismic activity during the Shōwa period (including the 1933 Sanriku Earthquake, the 1944 Tōnankai Earthquake, the 1946 Nankai Earthquake, and the 1948 Fukui Earthquake) as well as the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake is referenced to propose a hypothesis: that the release of tectonic strain may have shifted from the Suruga Trough toward the Japan Sea side. If this is the case, disaster preparedness should not only focus on the Pacific coast scenarios but also extend to the Hokuriku region along the Japan Sea.

This discussion is based on observational records and historical sources, and does not provide a deterministic prediction of future earthquakes. Rather, it aims to serve as a contribution to disaster risk awareness by bridging historical seismology and modern earthquake science.

As this study primarily addresses region-specific themes related to earthquakes in Japan, only the Japanese version is published. An English version may be considered if there is sufficient interest.
