Description
The Data Management Plan (DMP) is developed in the framework of the project No 5.2.1.1.i.0/2/24/I/CFLA/007 "Internal and External Consolidation of the University of Latvia" of the second round of the Consolidation and Governance Change Implementation Grants within Investment 5.2.1.1.i "Research, Development and Consolidation Grants" under Reform 5.2.1.r "Higher Education and Science Excellence and Governance Reform" of Reform and Investment Strand 5.2 of the Latvian Recovery and Resilience Mechanism Plan "Ensuring Change in the Governance Model of Higher Education Institutions", postdoctoral research grant project No. LU-BA-PG-2024/1-0007 "Influence of sample handling conditions on radiation-induced effects in biphasic tritium breeding material for future thermonuclear fusion reactors" (project manager: Dr. chem. Artūrs Zariņš, 1st September 2024 – 31st August 2025, 61 380.00 EUR).
Summary of the postdoctoral reasearch grant project: Advanced ceramic breeder (ACB) pebbles consisting of lithium orthosilicate and the mechanical stability strengthening phase lithium metatitanate are developed and extensively tested as the European Union’s reference solid-state material for tritium breeding in future thermonuclear fusion reactors. In this applied research project, the influence of sample handling conditions on radiation-induced effects in the biphasic ACB pellets will be investigated using various physico-chemical methods in order to develop recommendations for future irradiation experiments using accelerated ions. The main scientific findings will be submitted for publication in at least one international peer-reviewed thermonuclear fusion-relevant journal or conference proceeding, which is indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection, SCOPUS or ERIH PLUS databases. At least one project proposal will be prepared in cooperation with local and international partners for submission in a local or international call for research and development projects, which is necessary for the further funding of this scientific research direction at the University of Latvia. This research project will contribute to the Smart Specialisation Strategy (RIS3) area “Smart energetics” of the Republic of Latvia and the development of international nuclear energy sector, including for participation in the EUROfusion consortium.
