Description

Sustainable management of urban logistics (UL) is crucial for reducing congestion, enhancing
environmental quality, and improving liveability in cities. Traditional approaches are increasingly
inadequate due to intensified urbanisation and e-commerce growth. This paper proposes a
novel Dynamic Freight Management (DFM) conceptual framework that employs real-time data
analytics and comprehensive traffic information to optimise urban freight operations. Reviewing
the existing literature and integrating diverse methodologies, we developed a holistic strategy
that aligns freight activities with urban traffic patterns to minimise disruptions and environmental
impacts. The framework advocates for multi-stakeholder collaboration and supports
policy recommendations for its implementation. Through theoretical analysis and case studies,
this research study illustrates the potential of DFM to transform UL by reducing congestion and
emissions, thus contributing to more sustainable urban environments.
