மழவரும் மறவரும்

தொகையிலக்கியத்தில் இடம்பெறும் மழவர்க்கும் மறவர்க்கும் இடையிலான ஒற்றுமைகளையும்  வேற்றுமைகளையும் காண்பது இக்கட்டுரையின் நோக்கம் ஆகும். பண்டைத் தமிழ்ச் சமூகத்தில் நிலவிய  மக்கட் பிரிவுகள்பற்றித் தெளிவாகத் தெரிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டிய தேவை உளது. மழவர், மறவர் ஆகிய இரு குழுவினரின் தனித்துவங்களை அடையாளப் படுத்துவது இக்கட்டுரையின் சிறப்பாக அமைகிறது. ஒப்பியல் கோணத்தில் அமையும் இக்கட்டுரைக்குத் தொகை இலக்கியத்து அகத்திணைப்  பாடல்கள் முதன்மை ஆதாரங்கள் ஆகப்; புறத்திணைப் பாடல்கள், உரையாசிரியர், ஆய்வாளர் ஆகியோர் கருத்துகள் ஆகியன இரண்டாம் நிலைத் தரவுகள் ஆகின்றன. மழவரும் மறவரும் வேறுவேறு சமூகப் பிரிவினர் ஆவர் என்ற முடிவின் பயனாகப் பண்டைத் தமிழ்ச் சமூகத்தின் பன்மைத் தன்மை வெளிப்படுகிறது. 

The article aims to bring out the similarities and differences between Mazhavar and maravar who lived in early Tamilnadu.  It's needed to understand the social divisions prevalent in early Tamilnadu.  The importance lies in identifying the uniqueness of both Mazhavar and maravar. It's a comparative study with the akam lyrics in the anthologies serving as the primary source.  The puram lyrics, commentators’ views and researchers’ findings serve as the secondary sources. Mazhavar and maravar were found to be two different social groups. As a result the early Tamil society’s multifaceted nature is proved.
