Description

This poster presents a decade-long educational initiative (2014–2024) led by the GIBAF group (Teaching Innovation Group in Botany Applied to the Pharmaceutical Sciences) at the University of Barcelona. The project promotes the use of two historic campus gardens—the Faculty of Pharmacy Garden and the Ferran Soldevila Garden—as living laboratories for teaching and conservation. Through over 25 activities integrated into curricular teaching and student assessment, the project has developed innovative resources such as botanical guides, QR-coded plant labels, 360° virtual tours, student-created video capsules, and apps.

The initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (especially SDG 15), embeds plant biodiversity into health-related curricula, and fosters student engagement in plant conservation and digital literacy. The gardens also contribute to the cultural and botanical heritage of the university, housing monumental trees and protected species.
