Fear of Crime and Related Variables Dataset (Konya and Şanlıurfa, Türkiye, 2024)
Description
This dataset contains anonymized survey responses used in the study titled "Determinants of Fear of Crime: Comparative Evidence from Türkiye". A total of 808 valid responses were collected from two major Turkish cities—Konya and Şanlıurfa—between April 27 and July 26, 2024. Data were gathered through both online and face-to-face methods: 347 responses were collected via online platforms (Google Forms), while 461 were obtained through in-person interviews conducted primarily during daytime hours and weekends in public spaces such as parks. To ensure data quality and respondent attention, the questionnaire included consistency-check items—identically themed questions worded differently. As a result, 80 inconsistent responses were excluded (32 from Konya and 48 from Şanlıurfa), yielding 402 valid cases from Konya and 406 from Şanlıurfa.
