Initializing and Advancing Data Management Conversations with Faculty, Researchers, & Scientists
Description
Faculty, researchers, and scientists from several research labs at Florida State University and select faculty, researchers, and scientists affiliated with the National Science Foundation (NSF) funded EarthCube project participated in a dissertation research study conducted in Fall 2013 and successfully defended in Summer 2014. The study utilized an adapted Data Asset Framework (DAF) mixed-method research protocol of online survey and semi-structured interview questions.
This lightning talk will briefly explain results to survey question number Q26 and interview question Q41 from the adapted DAF research method used in the 2014 dissertation titled “Exploring the Data Management and Curation (DMC) Practices of Scientists in Research Labs within a Research University”. 107 out of 129 (83%) participants completed the survey and 6 out of 7 (86%) participants completed the interview.
Survey question – Q26. How can the University (including your School, research lab cyberinfrastructure, and campus resources such as high performance computing (HPC)) make data management and storage easier for you?
Interview question – Q41. On the scale of 1-3, please rate your level of confidence and awareness of the following research data management (RDM) and data management plan (DMP) matters.
