Description
Important note: This document is a description of the operational version of the FAIR-EASE Data
Lake infrastructure which comprises the FAIR-EASE infrastructures and the data access services .
This document is intended as a comprehensive description that supports understanding,
traceability, and collaboration for the infrastructure’s design, deployment, and usage.
This deliverable presents the operational deployment of the FAIR-EASE Data Lake, developed
throughout DevCycles 5 and 6, and builds upon the Data Lake testing version described in
Deliverable D4.4. The operational version integrates the tools, services, and workflows tested
previously and includes finalized deployments on federated infrastructures such as UCA1,
D4Science1, Galaxy.eu2, and EGI3. This document is structured similarly to D4.4 to ensure continuity
and ease of comparison, and is open for partner contributions.
This deliverable extends the work of previous documents and contributes to the assessment of the
project's progress toward achieving Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 7, as defined in the
Description of Work (DoW). TRL 74 corresponds to a system prototype demonstration in an
operational environment.
This deliverable builds upon:
● D4.4, which presented the testing version of the Data Lake.
● D4.3, which detailed the infrastructure expectations and design rationale.
● D3.2 and D3.3, which introduced the Earth Analytics Lab and its updates.
● D1.4, which presents the sustainability strategy and exploitation plans of the Key Exploitable
Results (KERs).
Recent integrations include EGI Check-in on the UCA testbed, JupyterHub deployment, iRODS5-to
S3 connector finalization, and deployment of multiple Beacon6 instances. Additionally, Terriamap
the Australian Open Source web application has been tested and validated in visualising data from
server technologies used in FAIR-EASE . Galaxy access to Pulsar and S3 has been validated, and the
Hackathon data resource list is in progress. FitSM7 acculturation is ongoing as part of federated
capability development, and alignment with EAL8 is now final as teh UCA tean EAL deployed on the
UCA infrastructure.
