A modeling investigation into the ecological role of mixotrophy in Karenia brevis blooms on the West Florida Shelf

Description

  The dataset includes outputs from the ROMS_RCA model for the years 2002 to 2003. In these outputs, the reference time for 'ocean_time' or 'time' is set to November 1, 2002; data before this date are excluded due to model spin-up, and irrelevant variables are excluded due to storage limit. The files in "Model_results.zip" contain state variables such as nutrient concentrations and phytoplankton biomass for the scenario with mixotrophy. Specifically, the biomass of K. brevis is recorded under "M_C," while "PHYT1" and "A_C" represent diatoms and Synechococcus. Additionally, 'DIAG3' and 'DIAG8' denote the ingestion rate and digestion rate of the prey cell in mgC/L/day. The model outputs are produced at six-hour intervals, with each NetCDF file representing one day's worth of data.

  Extracted data (algal biomass, nutrients, and process rates) for the surface layer, cross-shelf section, two stations, and coastal region analyses are stored in MATLAB (.MAT) files. Notably, the ingestion rate, IgC, in the MAT files can sometimes be renamed to a_Cgraz.
