Description
ABSTRACT:
The Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) is a flagship initiative by the Government of India aimed at making quality generic medicines accessible and affordable to the general public. Launched in 2008, and gaining momentum post-2015 under the direct impetus of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, PMBJP has made significant strides in improving healthcare accessibility. As of 31st March 2024, over 11,261 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) have been established across the nation. This paper analyzes the scheme's growth trajectory, its impact in terms of cost savings to the public, and its effectiveness as a public health intervention. The study employs quantitative analysis of data across five years to assess the expansion of Kendras, product availability, and sales trends.
