Description

This report assesses all the relevant use-cases and scenarios for the potential CL device applications. This deliverable relies on the work in Task 2.1. of the NOVETROL project.

Task 2.1 - Use-Case selection and Scenarios definition perform an inventory of the DC applications linked to the DC standardization in progress; it is done with focus on DC and hybrid microgrids, static converter interfaced appliances, energy communities, energy routers, mobility (DC power train), V2X technologies. Barriers (technological and regulatory) are highlighted, with a direct link to European and international roadmaps involving potential LVDC distribution deployment.

The set of DC applications is narrowed to a set of selected 5 NOVETROL high level use-cases, focusing on: (a) PV – powered stand-alone prosumers LV modules (3 ranges of rated power); (b) storage units (Li-Ion batteries for stationary applications, 3 ranges of capacity and SoC/ depreciation level/ battery management information accessibility); (c) DC native loads (lighting, video and communication modules, heating); (d) DC and hybrid microgrid with sections operating at LVDC, including elements modelled in (a)..(c) and electromotive applications (EV charging units); and (e) power converters for V2X technologies.

For each (high-level) use-case at least 2 instances and 3 operational scenarios are defined and checked for compliance with existing standardization initiatives for DC-enabled energy infrastructure.
