Theory of Mind (ToM) is a construct that reflects people’s ability to understand the mental states of others. In our daily lives, we continuously infer what others are thinking, understanding, feeling, and interpreting, especially with respect to us and other persons. The present chapter is focused on different defini-tions and concepts of ToM, its development in children and adolescents, and factors related to individual differences. We also analyse how ToM has been assessed in different studies and the methodological issues surrounding its measurement.
