D2.1 - Services for orchestrated deployment of new delivery methods v1

Description

GREEN-LOG aims to accelerate systemic changes in last mile delivery ecosystems for economically, environmentally and socially sustainable city logistics. The GREEN-LOG project is a multi-year project between 30 partners, deployed across Europe and the UK. The project employs beyond state-of-the-art technology, thorough investigation of the use cases of the logistics partners and real-world testing of the designed systems in Living Labs.
This deliverable presents the outputs of four (4) tasks (T2.1, T2.2, T2.3 and T2.4) of WP2 “New delivery methods and orchestrated deployment” up to M18. The objective is to integrate existing commercial logistic hubs, located in an urban or peri-urban context with all the advances of algorithmic simulation and prediction using real-time and future predictive artificial intelligence models.
More specifically, the deliverable presents the work undertaken towards the development of a suite of demand prediction models and optimisation services for scheduling last mile deliveries with the use of Micro Consolidation Centres (MCCs). The above-described services, together with tools and solutions being developed in WP3, utilise a city logistics data space presented in the deliverable. The GREEN-LOG data space facilitates data management to meet the project’s kai Living Labs’ needs. Furthermore, a simulation platform for the design and evaluation of what-if scenarios and long-term planning from either the LSP or an authority’s perspective is described in the report.
The developed tools aim to reduce congestion, exhaust emissions, demand response time and improve the overall sustainability of last-mile delivery solutions. Situational information including traffic prediction, route accessibility, vehicle availability and historical performance will be amalgamated to provide guidance to logistics partners.
The design, modelling, implementation and testing of the first (alpha) release of each software component are shown in this report. The integrated platform providing access to tools and algorithms developed in T2.1-T2.4 will be delivered in M21 through the deliverable D2.2 “Augmented intelligence modelling platform V1”.
