Climate Change Adaptation Handbook For High-Schools
Creators
Description
The current document is intended to serve as a guide for teachers and students to acquire new knowledge and get to know possible adaptation measures in response to the impacts of climate change. This guide starts with defining key terms for this topic (section 2), then an overview of climate change (section 3), followed by an explanation of how climate-related risks emerge from hazard, vulnerability, exposure and adaptive capacity (section 4). Regarding the impacts of climate change, five overarching systems are considered for practical purposes, called target areas; this includes ecosystems, food, health, infrastructure, and economy and finance, defined in section 5. For all target areas, it is described in section 6 how climate-related hazards have impacted them and their potential future conditions. Finally, for each target area, a series of adaptation measures to climate change is proposed in section 7.
