Digitisation and Geographical Technologies for Sustainability. A Comparative Analysis of OECM Advancements in Mexico and Italy

This is a presentation by Alfonso Giordano from Luiss Guido Carli University (LUISS), Italy held after his PRODIGEES secondment to Instituto Mora, Mexico. His research aims to explore the role of digital and geographical technologies in promoting Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs) for biodiversity conservation. Through a comparative analysis, his research provides insights into the progress and challenges faced by Mexico and Italy in achieving the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework’s 30x30 target, to conserve 30% of global land and marine areas by 2030.
