Monitoring and Forecasting Marine Heatwaves - presentation at IITM, Pune, India

Presentation on "Monitoring and forecasting marine heatwaves" delivered by Ronan McAdam (CMCC) at the Indian Institute of Tropical Metrology (IITM) in Pune, India, in February 2025.

The presentation highlights the capabilities of tools used in marine heatwave studies, from forecasting systems to reanalysis on regional and global scales. It addresses the challenges of defining suitable indicators for these extreme events, and the difficulty of providing useful information to a range of stakeholders, i.e., from climate to blue economy, from the tropics to the Mediterranean and beyond.
