D2.1 Pilot site testing objectives (SW)
Authors/Creators
Description
Deliverable D2.1, “Pilot site testing objectives (SW)”, defines the testing objectives for the South-Western pilot group of the GLocalFlex project, which includes pilot sites in France, Spain, and Switzerland. Each pilot site explores innovative approaches to demand-side flexibility in different energy environments, ranging from urban flexibility markets to energy communities and residential energy management systems.
The French pilot focuses on deploying smart Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS) for residential and non-residential consumers in an urban setting, enabling flexibility services via a technical aggregator. It includes real deployment, behavioural engagement tools, and simulated flexibility from public buildings.
The Spanish pilot investigates demand response programmes and energy sharing in rural and urban energy communities. It emphasizes community energy storage, blockchain-based transparency, and integration with flexibility trading platforms to increase consumer participation and interoperability.
The Swiss pilot demonstrates local energy management and flexibility trading in residential energy communities using smart appliances, electric vehicles, and heat pumps. It integrates with the GLocalFlex platform for intraday energy market participation, focusing on maximizing self-consumption and providing local grid services.
This deliverable outlines the technical developments, implementation plans, and pilot-specific strategies required for testing GLocalFlex flexibility concepts in real-world environments.
