Claim: complete solution of the Unknotting problem, with a polynomial-time decision algorithm.
Key step: a self-adjoint resonance operator on the knot configuration space; its stability functional SKS_KSK is maximal iff KKK is the unknot, yielding an O (c(K)5)O\!\bigl(c(K)^5\bigr)O(c(K)5) algorithm.
