A Consideration of the Wa Civil War (倭国大乱の一考察)

  • 1. Independent Researcher, Japan

Description

This short paper supplements the author’s previous study, “Observations on the Nihon Shoki from the Perspective of the Spring-Autumn Double-Year Calendar System” (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.15306170). It reinterprets the so-called "Wa Civil War" mentioned in the Book of the Later Han and Wei Zhi by identifying Suishō (帥升) with Emperor Kōan (孝安天皇), and estimates the timing of the internal conflict around 146 CE using the double-year calendar model.

Revision History
Upon reviewing the conversion for the double-year system, I determined that it did not extend to A.D. 470 but only through Emperor Yūryaku’s 12th and 13th years (A.D. 469), and I have reflected this change. I also added a note at the end. — September 29, 2025

This interpretive model is proposed independently in this paper and does not follow existing academic chronologies.
It presents an original chronological interpretation based on the use of a biennial calendar prior to A.D. 469 and a reinterpretation of imperial reign years as indicators of longevity.
