This qualitative research explores how the Filipino cultural value of Utang na Loob (debt of gratitude) influences voter behavior in Manila’s elections. Through thematic analysis of in-depth interviews with registered voters, the study examines how personal favors, social expectations, and cultural obligations impact electoral decisions. Findings highlight the role of patron-client dynamics and the tension between emotional loyalty and rational political choice in Philippine democracy.
