Description
Abstract
Green synthesis refers to the process of designing and developing environment friendly methodologies for synthesizing compounds. It is a rapidly growing field that focuses on sustainable and green approaches to synthesize various materials, chemicals, and products. By using microwave radiation techniques to quicken chemical reactions, a variety of chemicals can be produced quickly and effectively through microwave synthesis. Benzimidazole is a heterocyclic compound containing a fused benzene and imidazole ring system, with diverse biological and pharmaceutical properties. Benzimidazole exhibits potential in medicinal chemistry due to their wide-ranging biological activities and structural versatility. Our work describes a unique microwave-based process for efficiently synthesising benzimidazole from ortho phenylenediamine and formic acid. This was selected since it is environmentally friendly. Shorter reaction times, less energy use, and higher yields are just a few benefits of the microwave approach. Reaction conditions such as change in time, temperature and weight of reactant were used for the determination of the benzimidazole product's yield.
