Financial Proxy Warfare: Employment and Microfinance as Geopolitical Instruments
Description
Financial Proxy Warfare explores the strategic use of financial tools such as microfinance, employment schemes, and fintech platforms in global geopolitics. It examines how states and transnational actors leverage economic dependency and digital financial infrastructure to influence regions of strategic interest, often as an alternative to traditional military engagement. By analyzing the intersection of financial ecosystems and geopolitical strategy, this project reframes proxy warfare to include economic tactics for ideological alignment, social engineering, and long-term compliance. The study focuses on regions where conventional military involvement is politically sensitive, with a case study on Bangladesh to highlight the practical application of financial proxy warfare.
