WATERLINE-DEU-Dam Break Virtual Reality Learning Environment
Description
This APK file provides access to the Virtual Reality Learning Environment (ViLE) developed as part of the WATERLINE project’s digital education infrastructure. Developed under Task 4.2 and integrated into the curriculum framework from Task 3.1, this resource is part of the broader initiative to enhance digital water education across European Higher Education Institutions.
Dam Break VR application is designed to support the reinforcement of theoretical knowledge with practical application in the fields of flood hydrology and floodplain management based on dam failure in water resources engineering. After providing fundamental hydrological/hydraulic teachings related to the dam failure phenomenon, the application allows spatial monitoring of flood effects that will occur in downstream territories and settlements after the failure events under different initial conditions and different scenario predictions. In addition to the scenario analyses and spatial comparisons that can be followed step by step, users can also create and analyze their failure scenarios with different selections. In addition to bird's eye monitoring of the flood wave propagation, queries on flood extent, inundation depths and velocities can be performed at individual locations with the spatial teleport feature.
