Description

We provide data and code for the maps created in the publication "Tropical dry woodland loss in India since 1880 and its relation to current megafauna distributions" in Ecological Applications 2025.

Specifically:

The file Code_EnsembleMapCreation.ipynb contains the code used to create our Ensemble maps for 2020 and 2010.

The file IndianTDFs_1880-1930-1975-1985-1995-2010-2020_300m_April2025.tif is a raster stack containing the following rasters at 300m resolution in the order below:

  1. TDF boundary as delineated by Olson. Value 1 = TDF and 99 = Non-TDF
  2. Fractional forest cover in 1880
  3. Fractional forest cover in 1930
  4. Fractional forest cover in 1975
  5. Fractional forest cover in 1985
  6. Fractional forest cover in 1995
  7. Fractional forest cover in 2010 (Ensemble map)
  8. Fractional forest cover in 2020 (Ensemble map)

The file IndianTDFs_1880-1930-1975-1985-1995-2010-2020_3km_April2025.tif is a raster stack containing the following rasters at 3km resolution in the order below:

  1. TDF boundary as delineated by Olson. Value 1 = TDF and 0 = Non-TDF
  2. Fractional forest cover in 1880
  3. Fractional forest cover in 1930
  4. Fractional forest cover in 1975
  5. Fractional forest cover in 1985
  6. Fractional forest cover in 1995
  7. Fractional forest cover in 2010 (Ensemble map)
  8. Fractional forest cover in 2020 (Ensemble map)
