ELIXIR - Cellular and Molecular Research - Strategy

This document describes ELIXIR’s Strategy for developing the Cellular and Molecular Research (CMR) Priority Area within the Science Tier of the ELIXIR Scientific Programme 2024-2028. It has been developed by the CMR Priority Area leads, with support from the ELIXIR Hub, and with contributions and feedback from ELIXIR members across Nodes, Communities, Focus Groups, and Platforms.

The Strategy outlines key challenges facing cellular and molecular research including overcoming data silos, promoting FAIR data principles and leveraging AI and machine learning to enhance data analysis and interpretation. The overarching aims of the CMR Priority Area are articulated through a clear vision and mission, focusing on integrating diverse datasets, advancing computational tools, and supporting multi-omics and multimodal research communities. Finally, the Strategy summarises the practical steps of its implementation and growth as a cohesive ecosystem for cellular and molecular research, driving innovation.
