Description

This module is one of many that form the Ecological Field Monitoring Protocols Manual using the Ecological Monitoring System Australia (EMSA), available at https://emsa.tern.org.au/documents. The Camera Trapping Module covers the use of camera traps to monitor fauna species, including vertebrate pests, across the project area. The module includes protocols for the deployment, re-equipping and retrieval of camera traps, each of which collects all associated metadata in a standardised manner.

This module includes three complementary camera trapping protocols, each of which collects all associated metadata in a standardised manner in the Monitor app:

  • Camera trap deployment – camera traps deployed at points of interest or in an array or Fauna Plot.
  • Camera trap re-equipping – camera trap batteries and SD cards replaced to extend deployment.
  • Camera trap retrieval – camera traps retrieved at the end of the deployment period.
