The Legendeer Trilogy: What It has to offer in Our Understanding of Metaworlds in the Cyberspace
Creators
Description
In this short paper, the author has chosen to explore the meta worlds – the mythological Greece, Transylvania where Count Dracul and the Vampyrs ruled the land by night, and The Northland of the rugged Vikings – of “The Legendeer Trilogy” written by the Blue Peter Book Awardee, Alan Gibbons. The protagonist, Phoenix Graves, a 14-year-old boy, was eager to be the first person to play the cyber-game that his father was creating for a company Magna-com International under the directions of a mysterious person, Glen Reede. With any of the three game softwares, a Parallel Reality suit and a computer, the game that opens the gateway between this world and the realm of myth and legend, with heroes and monsters, daring deeds and narrow escapes, triumphs and tragedies, is ready to be played.
