Interoperability between Data Spaces in Climate Science : Using DTR to specify STAC Catalogs defined as FDO

Description
Interoperability between data spaces in climate research remains a significant challenge. Researchers often need to work with datasets spanning multiple domains, but limited interoperability and the scattered nature of data across various data spaces result in excessive time spent on data wrangling rather than analysis. To address this issue, we propose automating repetitive tasks to streamline data integration. As a key step, we register a data type for SpatioTemporal Asset Catalogs (STAC) in the FAIRCORE4EOSC Data Type Registry, defining them as FAIR Digital Objects. This approach enhances machine-readability and fosters more efficient, automated workflows in climate research.
