Description

This deliverable draws a comprehensive picture of the nutritional conditions of the population living in the target 6 African countries and their 14 cities aimed to provide food operators with market-oriented insights and to support the development of nutritional recommendations (T2.4, D2.6). The first section illustrates the results of the desk systematic literature reviews on consumers’ food consumption and nutritional status and needs conducted at country level. The second section reports a dataset collecting food consumption data at individual and household levels in the target 14 African cities (6,000 urban consumers). Specifically, these gathered data aim at providing insights on the individual diet quality and at measuring the household dietary diversity score. The third section integrates the dataset with the chemico-physical characteristics of novel and local food raw materials, ingredients and food products currently entering into the local consumers’ diets in the target areas
