Report on implementation of the methodological framework for user-centred quality on selected services (OPERAS-PLUS Deliverable 6.2)

This D6.2 report presents the results of a structured usability evaluation of the GoTriple multilingual research discovery platform, conducted within UCQ-FRAME, a user-centred quality framework for assessing the usability of scholarly communication services. As a core service within OPERAS, GoTriple plays a key role in facilitating multilingual discovery for SSH research. The evaluation aimed to validate and refi ne UCQ-FRAME, while identifying strengths and usability challenges in order to improve the usability, effi ciency and long-term sustainability of GoTriple.

A triangulated UX evaluation approach was used, combining heuristic evaluation (HE), moderated usability testing (MUT) and unmoderated remote usability testing (URUT) to provide a comprehensive usability evaluation. The results highlighted both strengths and usability issues: HE evaluators described GoTriple's UI as visually appealing, clean and well structured, while MUT participants appreciated its modern look and intuitive navigation. However, usability challenges were also identifi ed, including navigation inconsistencies, diffi culty in understanding the platform's mission and target audience, unclear search fi ltering, and gaps in bibliographic metadata.

The evaluation fi ndings were prioritised according to severity, providing a structured roadmap for incremental usability improvements. The results also validated UCQ-FRAME as a multi-method UX evaluation framework, reinforcing its role in future OPERAS service evaluations.

Next steps include completing the URUT evaluation, implementing prioritised usability improvements, conducting follow-up testing, and further refi ning UCQ-FRAME to ensure a sustainable, user-driven approach to usability evaluation.
