Smart water quality management system
Creators
Description
Water is increasingly becoming a scarce resource since many European regions are already facing more frequent, severe, and longer lasting droughts due to climate change. Not only the availability of water, but also the quality of water resources for irrigation remains critical.
Irrigation decisions may be made that optimize farming results and safeguard the environmental footprint. By identifying pollution events and sources, one may intervene on illegal and legal agricultural polluting activities. Aquaculture is an important fast growing agri-food sector utilizing closed recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) for fish production with high yields. By managing and optimising water resources Europe's agri-food resources can be improved, and the environment can be protected.
The video shows the technologies being developed and preparations for testing of continuous monitoring of water quality and optimization of recirculating aquaculture systems.
