Empowering the Unskilled: Establishing a Ministry of Motor and Bike Mechanics to Drive Global Employment
Description
The global economy is rapidly evolving, yet millions of young, uneducated, and unemployed individuals (aged 17–30) remain excluded from meaningful employment opportunities (O'Higgins, 2017). Despite the growing demand for skilled mechanics, the motor and bike repair sector is often undervalued (Dhakal et al., 2018). This proposal advocates for establishing a dedicated Ministry or Department of Motor and Bike Mechanics to provide structured training, certification, and employment pathways for this demographic. By capitalizing on emerging sectors such as electric vehicles (EVs), autonomous vehicles, and sustainable transportation, this initiative can create millions of jobs worldwide, reduce unemployment, and foster economic resilience (Assaad and Levison, 2013). This paper explores the concept, its projected impact, and actionable steps for its implementation.
