The Importance of Multilingual Skills in Tourist Guiding: Meeting the Needs of Global Travelers

Description

As tourism becomes more globalized, effective communication by tourist guides with diverse visitor groups stands as essential for both visitor satisfaction and destination reputation. This research investigates how multilingual capabilities enable tourist guides to meet the language and cultural requirements of international visitors. Tourist guides with multilingual abilities not only help overcome language obstacles but also significantly improve tourism experiences by increasing accessibility and inclusivity while tailoring services to individual needs. The research employs mixed-methods research to combine international tourist surveys with professional guide interviews to analyse multilingualism benefits and challenges in the tourism profession. The research shows that multilingual abilities produce better tourist interaction while strengthening cultural bonds and decreasing misunderstandings. Tourists reported greater satisfaction with guides who communicated in their native language which underlined the emotional and cultural benefits of these exchanges.

The research indicates that tour guides must undergo ongoing language education and adjust to different language preferences among tourists. The study ends with a focus on multilingual training programs as essential for guides while pointing out their impact on inclusivity and global competitiveness within the tourism sector.
