Analogies Between Polytheism, Theravāda Buddhism, and the Semitic Religions
Description
In this article, we will explore the analogies between the major Semitic religious traditions
—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam— and the primary branches of Buddhism: Theravāda,
Mahāyāna, Vajrayāna, and the emerging Navāyāna. Additionally, we will draw a parallel
between Theravāda Buddhism and pre-Abrahamic polytheism to delve into how these traditions
reflect different conceptions of the divine, the spiritual, and liberation
