NANOMEDICINES IN CHRONIC WOUND HEALING AND THEIR APPROACHES

Description

Chronic wound healing remains a significant medical challenge due to prolonged inflammation, infection, and impaired tissue regeneration. Traditional wound care methods are often inadequate in promoting efficient healing, particularly in patients with diabetes, vascular disorders, or immunocompromised states. Nanomedicine has emerged as a promising approach to address these challenges by leveraging nanomaterials' unique properties to enhance wound healing processes. This includes promoting tissue regeneration, combating infection, reducing inflammation, and providing controlled drug delivery. Various nanomaterials, such as nanoparticles, nanofibers, and nanogels, have been developed to accelerate wound healing by improving cell proliferation, migration, and angiogenesis, while also offering antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects. Additionally, innovative nanocarriers for gene therapy, growth factor delivery, and stem cell-based therapies are being explored to optimize chronic wound management. This review examines the current approaches of nanomedicine in chronic wound healing, highlighting the potential benefits and challenges, and providing a roadmap for future research in this transformative field.
