Description

This deliverable presents a) the results of the identification process regarding the urban case study areas of the project for the city of Athens. The methodological procedure was based on the classes of the LCZ delineation. The case study areas offer different morphological characteristics (buildings’ geometry, land cover, building fraction etc.) so as to cover the majority of the typical metropolitan built environment of Athens, b) the selection of the simulation days (i.e., typical and extreme summer and winter days and typical spring days), for current and future climatic conditions, (i.e., projections for 2041-2060 and 2081-2100 and two emission scenarios).

The simulation days are derived from a statistical analysis of high-resolution climatic data, issued by the up-to-date, dynamic regional climate model RegCM4 for a reference period (i.e. 1980-2000) and for two future periods (2041-2060 and 2081-2100) and the emission scenarios RCP4.5 and RCP 8.5.
