This article analyzes the issues of national-democratic statehood in Turkestan at the beginning of the 20th century. The political and social significance of the Jadid movement, the formation of the Kokand Autonomy and its short existence, and the difficulties encountered in the development of national-democratic ideas are highlighted. This period is of great importance in the formation of national consciousness and the creation of the basis for independence movements.
