Parsl: an example of trying to sustain research software
Description
In this talk, in the NIH NCI Informatics Technology for Cancer Research (ITCR) December meeting, we discuss an example of an open source research project, Parsl, seeking to become sustainable. We start by discussing Parsl, its usage and community, and its history. We then talk about what we think sustainability means, and how we plan for Parsl to become sustainable. In different stages of Parsl as a project, both development and community work have changed, and we describe them. Finally, the reasons Parsl joined NumFOCUS and the process are included, before we conclude with overall lessons.
