April 2024 China floods exacerbated by both human-driven climate change and natural variability

Description

  • Depressions similar to those producing China floods are locally 3-7 mm/day (up to 8-12%) wetter over the Guangdong province in the present than they were in the past. 

  • This was a somewhat uncommon event.

  • China Floods have been likely influenced by both human-driven climate change and natural variability.
